A Short Absence and Some New Stuff

Sorry for being gone for a week or so. I've been knee deep in projects: planning my Mom's 50th birthday party which I'm hosting at my house this weekend and sewing curtains for my living room and dining room.  
I did however have time to shop! Here's a few things I bought.

I bought this dress at Rags. It's so adorable! It's gingham. Very Dorothy. So I thought I would pair it with some wicked red shoes! (The shoes are also new!)

Words, words, words (oh yeah, and Wine...)

A couple weeks ago I was asked to take part in a fundraiser called Wine & Words for my former theatre company. Wine and appetizers were served and local actors and local celebrities read excerpts of new works from Canadian writers and playwrights.

It was so stormy that night! The rain just wouldn't stop! But there was a great turnout nonetheless! That's Winnipegers for you! We'll go to work in a blizzard, a little rain won't stop us from going out either! haha!

It was a great evening! I had such a good time I brought my camera and forgot to take pictures. There were just too many familiar faces I hadn't seen in so long. I had a lot of catching up to do!
Anyway, luckly I have a friend who is always taking pictures. So he just sent me his the other day.

Once the night wound down, there were still opened bottles of wine to be finished off. Me and a few other stragglers helped with that chore. Then we were off to a friends house to continue with the festivities! I think we were singing a Beatles song at this point. Well I was laughing. Everyone else was singing.

I think this was taken at about 3am. So I figure I'm looking not so bad! haha! Actually I look pretty tired...

This is the closest thing to an outfit shot for the night. Minus purse and shoes. I really love the combination of greys, cream and nude.

Outfits: Work Wear

I wore this to work today. As you can see it's pretty tame compared to the stuff I used to wear to Ricki's. My office is business casual, which is fine. And the office is too cold to wear a skirt and we are required to wear closed toe shoes. I'm still trying to figure out how to infuse a little vintage style into my work wear. So when I saw this blouse on a sale rake for $10 in a boutique this weekend I couldn't resist! (See? More blue!) I love the embroidery on it!

Isn't it adorable? It is the most lightweight cotton. Perfect for summer!

And as usual, Dave couldn't resist getting in a few of the shots. I think he just likes being included in my blog!

Summer Bedtime Snack

I just love summer. Although it has been rainy and a little cold here in Winnipeg I can still pretend it's warmer than it is because of all the beautiful fruit that is in season!

I went grocery shopping tonight and I couldn't wait to get home and wash the raspberries and cherries I bought. Aren't they just gorgeous?!

Enamel Colander is vintage from my Grandma!

So for a bedtime snack I had raspberries and cream with handful of almonds. (oh! and a few cherries of course!) YUM!

Pink vintage bowl was bought at Value Village (I have 3 more just like it!). Can you see my reflection in the spoon? haha!

Totally Addicted Right Now!

I really can't rememeber how it started, but I've recently been watching That 80's Show episodes online. Yes, I know, people do not like this show. I'm not one of them. I think it's campy and fun! I wish it would have ran for more than one season.

I truly think that it was just ahead of its time in 2002. If the show had ran now with all the 80's nostaligia coming back I think it would have done much better in the ratings department.

I really love the girls on the show!

Tinsley Grimes as Corey's sister Katie is just too adorable for words! And I really love her Madonna/Cydi Lauper style! So cute!

Chyler Leigh as Tuesday the punk rock chick just intrigues me. I really wanted to see her character progress. (I'm bummed, I couldn't find a good picture of her with her spikes!)

And Brittany Daniel as Sophie was just outrageous and funny.

The men on the other hand I could take or leave, except for maybe Corey. So I'm not going to bother mentioning them. (It's my blog, I can do what I want)

Wishlist: Blue Wedge Sandles

It has come to my attention that there is a major deficit in my summer wardrobe. This has only recently come about. You see, it's been many many years since the colour blue has had a home in my closet. As a result I own no blue shoes to go with a blue outfit. (I like to match!)

In the last year or so blue and I have become reaquainted. I have bought blue dresses, blue blouses, blue skirts! I have up until now worn these outfits with white or red shoes. Which is just fine...

But there are those days where I just need a blue pair of shoes to make that outfit complete.

I Wish My Hair Was Longer!

Ok, so the title of this post is a little random, but after looking at the photos from the day it is glaringly obvious to me that my hair looked better in my mind than it did in real life. My pony tail is just a little stumpy and spikey looking for my liking. I was trying to replicate this hairstyle from LisaFreemontStreet. I guess I did pretty good...it's really just the length that bugs me...

Oh well...it'll grow.

Anyway...thank you for listening to my vanity related rambling..back to the post.

I have Mondays off, so this afternoon my brother and I headed downtown to The Forks Market. We sat on a patio, had a drink and went for a walk to the Legistlative Building. It was gorgeous out today!

Now I just need somewhere to wear it! There were other great vintage clothes there too....I may have to go back on the weekend. There was another navy hat that I'm sure had my name on it...

I'm sure glad I got to spend some time outside today, it lookes like it might rain right now. The sky is all clouded over. The weather channel is calling for rain tomorrow. Yuck.
